About Me

I am Jan and live near London in England. I was diagnosed with diabetes in August 2006. I have always been interested in eating healthily so when diagnosed my cholesterol level and blood pressure were both within the normal range. However, my blood glucose level was a big problem.

Finding out I had diabetes was an enormous shock and it made me reassess just how healthy my lifestyle was. I spent many hours after diagnosis finding out what sort of changes I could make and putting these changesĀ  into action. Six months later my blood glucose level was under control and it has been in the normal range for the last two years. In July 2009 my doctor began to doubt that I had diabetes and I had a glucose tolerance test. The results showed that my blood glucose levels were now normal and I am no longer being treated as a person with diabetes. I believe this is due to eating, as much as possible, food which has not been processed.

However, it is easy to become complacent and to gradually slip back into bad habits. Therefore, I created this blog, Quest for Health, in an attempt to stay focused on living a healthy lifestyle, and to share tips and motivation with others.

I am not a medical professional so please be aware that the content of this blog is my own personal opinions, experiences or reports of research I have gathered from various sources. If you have any medical concerns you must seek the advice of your doctor and not rely on any information you may find in this blog.
